NEWPORT (Ark.) — Kamryn Bates, the powerhouse of ASUN's softball team, etched her name in the record books on Wednesday during a thrilling doubleheader against ASU-Mountain Home. Bates achieved an extraordinary feat known as "hitting for the cycle" in a single game, a performance that will be etched into the annals of ASUN softball history.

For those unfamiliar with the term, hitting for the cycle is a rare and remarkable achievement in baseball and softball. It involves a player successfully hitting a single, a double, a triple, and a home run within the same game. The rarity of this accomplishment is comparable to the statistical improbability of other extraordinary athletic feats, such as hitting a hole-in-one in golf or bowling a perfect game.

To put it into perspective, Major League Baseball (MLB) calculates the probability of an average player hitting for the cycle against an average team in a game to be about 0.0059%. Kamryn Bates defied these odds with her exceptional performance, exemplifying her extraordinary skill and dedication on the softball field.

During Tuesday's game against the Trailblazers, Kamryn Bates dazzled the crowd with her incredible cycle. She unleashed a solo home run to left field in the second inning, followed by a triple in the fourth inning, a double in the third inning, and finally, a single in the fifth inning. Her astounding performance undoubtedly played a significant role in the Aviators' 16-8 victory.

Remarkably, the Aviators experienced a second-inning surge that contributed to the victory, with Kamryn Bates being a pivotal figure. She was not alone in her excellence; Macee McGill, Laci Worthington, Lyrick Stapleton, and Aubrey Weaver also showcased their power and precision at the plate, delivering home runs and runs for the team.

Kamryn Bates's cycle is a testament to her extraordinary skill and the dedication she brings to the softball diamond. Achieving this feat is not only rare but also demonstrates her ability to excel in all aspects of hitting. It's a remarkable accomplishment that few players in the history of the sport can claim.
